Rage Cage: not your typical rage cage in Brooklyn
You’re probably wondering, why are you going to a Rage Cage place when you can just play the drinking game at home? Nope. This isn’t what you think. 🧐
Have you ever felt the need to smash something to bits just to let out your pent-up frustration? If you have, then Rage Cage is the perfect place for you. This activity involves destroying different items in a room with your bare hands or a bat. Now, I’ve never even thought about doing something like this before, but I tried it out for the first time, and it was definitely worth the experience.
What is Rage Cage?
Rage Cage, also known as the Rage Room” or “Anger Room, is a place where you can destress or just have fun with your friends by smashing different items they provide from what you session you booked. The cost of each session varies depending on the number of people and the time duration. You can choose from different options that can range from $64.99 for a 20-minute session for two people to $224.99 for a 30-minute session for six people.
So, what can you smash?
You can smash various items in a Rage Cage session. They offer Premium Electronics such as monitors, printers, VCRs, and Smaller Electronics like office phones, keyboards, and speakers. They also provide plates that are much easier to smash. If you’ve smashed all your things within your session, you can ask the workers to add more items with an additional charge.
The rules?
You have to be 18+ in order to smash. They check your ID to make sure you’re of age, then before entering the Rage Cage room, you must sign a waiver form on an iPad located near the wall. If you're 13 years or older, you can smash things with a legal guardian next to you. Additionally, you can't participate if you're pregnant or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, so make sure you’re sober!
After signing the waiver form, you must also wear protective gear provided by the facility, including a protective face covering helmet, white zipped plastic baggy jumpsuit, plastic gloves, and a sturdy glove outside to protect your hands. You should wear closed-toe shoes as they don't provide any. After you have everything on, it’s time to enter and unleash your RAGE!
TIP: Don’t forget to wear or bring closed toe shoes!
Why did we go?
When Brian visited us in New York, Gabriel decided to take us (Brian and me) to a place called Rage Cage in East Williamsburg. Since I've never done something like this before, I thought, why not? It's always good to experience new things in life. This way, you can look back later in life and say, "Hey, I've done something like this before." And talk about your personal experience.
How was it for us?
After we arrived, we showed our ID’s, signed a waiver form on an iPad and placed our personal belongings into a locker. We wore the protective gear provided by the facility and entered our reserved room, where they had speakers and phone mounts to take timed selfies and record ourselves smashing things. They also provided different assortments of bats, from lightweight to a heavier, thicker bat. We started blasting some metal, grabbed our bats, and began smashing things.
Is it therapeutic?
It was definitely therapeutic for me and us. I had a lot of pent-up stress from the past few months, and it was nice to release my RAGEEEE!!!! This is a safe place to just LET EVERYTHING OUT. Let go of all your anger. Let go of your stress, and feel SO much better. Start laughing with your friends or your significant other. If you are the type of person who bottles things up, this is a great place for you to release your stress and feel so much better afterward.
I definitely had so much fun. I couldn’t stop laughing because the whole experience was amazing. I thought I would start breaking some shit and nonstop swinging at the pieces they’ve provided but I ended up enjoying watching Brian and Gabriel smashing stuff because the way they did it was so easy and it flowed so well. It was definitely something that I never would’ve thought of doing but it was a great experience.
