Is JetBlue's Even More Space Worth the Upgrade?

Even though I haven't flown JetBlue in a few years, I recently had the opportunity to experience both their regular economy and Even More Space options on a trip to Puerto Rico with my partner, Gabriel.

This experience got me thinking: is the upgrade to Even More Space worth the extra cost? In this blog post, I'll break down both options to help you decide if the extra legroom and amenities justify the price jump.

The Comparison

Regular Economy

SEATING
JetBlue Economy has a standard 3 - 3 seating configuration. I felt like there was plenty of legroom for me (I’m 5’5”)… Although, legroom might be a bit tighter for taller passengers (like 5'10" and up). The seats aren’t firm, but have cushions and are very worn-looking.

AMENITIES
Each seat has an under-seat outlet (which was very dirty). The in-flight entertainment system has new recent movies with standard-looking touchscreen displays. And heads up, earphones aren't provided for free, so you can either buy them when the flight attendants comes around or bring your own to avoid the extra cost!

OVERALL EXPERIENCE
If you're not too tall, JetBlue economy is pretty decent with comfy seats and basic amenities. But if you're taller, keep in mind that legroom might be a bit tight.

Even More Space

SEATING
The standard configuration for this flight is 3-3. However, Even More Space provides significantly more legroom than regular economy. Although I was comfortable without the extra space, the additional legroom made a noticeable difference in my comfort level during longer flights.

AMENITIES
Even More Space does not offer any additional in-flight entertainment options compared to regular economy. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the benefits of priority boarding (Group A) and faster TSA processing, thanks to the Even More Space fast lane offered at certain airports. However, I noticed that the under-seat outlets were still dirty, just like in regular economy.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE
The fast lane access through security and priority boarding offered by Even More Space significantly enhanced my travel experience. However, the entertainment options remained the same as the regular economy.

The Verdict

Key Differences

Here's a quick rundown of the key differences between JetBlue's regular economy and Even More Space:

  • Legroom: Even More Space offers significantly more legroom compared to regular economy, making it a better choice for taller passengers or those who value more comfort during the flight.

  • Amenities: Both options offer the same basic amenities like in-flight entertainment and snacks/drinks. However, Even More Space includes priority boarding and faster security screening at select airports.

  • Overhead Bin Access: The overhead bin access wasn't a major concern for me since I normally travel pretty light. However, for travelers who check in luggage or carry multiple bags, Even More Space might be appealing for increased overhead bin space.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to upgrade to Even More Space depends on your individual needs and priorities.

  • Regular Economy is a good choice for: Budget-conscious travelers, shorter flyers who don't mind standard legroom, and those who don't prioritize early boarding or faster security screening.

  • Even More Space is ideal for: Taller travelers who want that extra legroom, flyers who value comfort and a more relaxed travel experience, and those who appreciate the convenience of priority boarding and faster security TSA (at select airports).

I hope this breakdown helps you decide whether Even More Space is the right choice for your next JetBlue flight!
