Urban Backyard in Manhattan
Located on Mulberry Street, Urban Backyard is a hidden gem that locals and visitors alike love to frequent. The cozy interior, adorned with greenery and rustic elements, creates a welcoming and inviting atmosphere.
When I used to work in Soho, I stumbled upon Urban Backyard and instantly fell in love with it. Whenever I got off the J train on Bowery, I would make a quick detour to pick up my matcha and surprise my coworkers with the owner's adorable handmade botanical cupcakes.
The interior of Urban Backyard is small, cozy, and always bustling with people working, chatting, and enjoying their time inside and outside the shop.

Urban Backyard's owner handcrafts the best botanical cupcakes, which are small but incredibly delicious.
You can order them individually or in bulk online, where you can also customize the flavor and design. If you buy them in-store, they're pre-made and sell out fast!

One of the popular drinks at this place is the Ube Latte, which I haven't tried yet because I always end up getting their Floral Matcha Latte whenever I visit — which is another popular drink. You can choose between rose floral or lavender syrup for the matcha latte, and they'll sprinkle the corresponding petals on top.
They currently have Fall specials right now, and their most popular special is the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
You can also find a variety of fresh pastries and sandwiches on the menu and displayed at the order counter.

the atmosphere
The ambiance of the place combines an urban New York vibe with industrial, rustic, and garden elements.
There are two entrances. The first entrance on the right is where you place your order and find a cozy green and rustic area to enjoy your coffee. The stone steps are beautifully designed, reminding you of walking through a garden.
The second entrance on the left leads downstairs to a darker, quieter area that can get very hot in the summer. This is also where you can find their bathroom.
There is limited outdoor seating available, with more options near the first entrance on the right and additional seating downstairs through the left entrance.
