Are you craving a unique cafe experience when you’re visiting Taipei? I highly recommend checking out BUNA CAFE located in the Xinyi District in Taipei!
This isn't your average cafe. From the outside, it might seem small, but when you step inside, prepare to be surprised by a spacious, modern-industrial interior with a surprising twist: a cozy library vibe and even a robot zipping around collecting dishes!

the ambiance
When you walk into BUNA CAFE in the Xinyi District, you'll be greeted by a robot swiftly clearing tables and heading to the kitchen, while behind the vintage coffee makers and mouth-drooling pastries and desserts displayed in glass, baristas are preparing fresh coffee for their guests. The cafe is furnished with comfortable chairs and tables and has floor-to-ceiling windows letting in natural light. The interior combines modern, industrial vibes with a warm, cozy, retro feel, creating a stunning atmosphere for enjoying coffee and food.
I was definitely caught off guard to see a robot clearing dishes, adding a unique touch to the cafe's retro-modern vibe. The spacious layout also impressed me, with additional seating at the back in uniquely arranged dining spaces.

food & drinks
Apple Lychee Tea
We started off with drinks, ordering Apple Lychee Tea and Grapefruit Orange Juice (which I forgot to take a picture of!! 🥲) before our meals. Gabe also ordered a Lemon Iced Coffee to finish his meal.
The Apple Lychee Tea is served iced with adjustable ice levels and non-adjustable sweetness. It has lychee jelly at the bottom which needs to be stirred before drinking. It was a little sweet but really refreshing, especially on such a hot day.
The Grapefruit Orange Juice was tangy and sweet, really refreshing and tantalizing for the taste buds.
Scallop Pasta
For our main dishes, we ordered the Scallop Pasta, Mushroom & Veggie Omelette, and a side of Truffle Fries!
I had the Scallop Pasta, which was surprisingly a little spicy! The scallop was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
Mushroom
& Veggie Omelette
Gabe's Mushroom & Veggie Omelette was huge and he thought it was very good.
Truffle Fries
And of course, here’s a picture of the Truffle Fries! If you love french fries, definitely get the Truffle Fries!
The Truffle Fries were perfectly crispy, light on the truffle, but lots of cheese sprinkled on top which made me happy!
Lemon Iced Coffee + Oolong Chocolate Roll
For dessert, we ordered the Oolong Chocolate Roll.
Gabe ordered a Lemon Iced Coffee to go with the Oolong Chocolate Roll for dessert to seal off the lunch appetite. The chocolate roll was sweet, but not overly sweet — just as I like it. Even though we were so full from everything else and didn’t get to finish the cake, it was still super good and Gabe really enjoyed his Lemon Iced Coffee paired with the cake.

what’s nearby
Taipei 101
Before heading to BUNA CAFE, we visited Taipei 101. I had BUNA CAFE saved but didn't realize it was so close to Taipei 101 — it's only 2 blocks away!
I recommend visiting Taipei 101 early, then heading to BUNA CAFE for a delicious lunch!
It's a 9-minute walk from Taipei 101 or a 2-minute YouBike ride.
Daan Park
After dining at BUNA CAFE, you can consider visiting Daan Park, which is somewhat close by. Daan Park is a large urban oasis in Taipei where you can enjoy bird watching and relaxation. When visiting during the right season and at night, you might even get to see fireflies!
You can reach the park by a 17-minute MRT ride on the Tamshui-Xinyi red line, a 36-minute walk, or a 13-minute YouBike ride.
If you’re searching for the perfect luxurious place to stay, I highly recommend a great place to stay near all the attractions that I've mentioned above. The hospitality at Shangri-La was top-notch 💯 , and I would definitely go back and stay there the next time I visit Taipei.
