As we’re closing the short chapter of February, I can't help but reflect on the crazy experiences. From moments that sparked joy to challenges that tested my resilience, I'm eager to share both the highs and lows with you!

Lessons Learned

It turns out I’ve learned quite a lot.

February 2024 - Cat enjoying cozy atmosphere in bookshop

Beyond the lessons from online classes and workshops, I found myself going on a journey of self-discovery.

I discovered the power of awareness and focused intention, gradually releasing the grip of anxiety and worry that once consumed my thoughts.

I've learned to embrace the present moment, taking each breath as an opportunity to center myself and appreciate the richness of life.

Feelings

Reflecting on how I felt this month, it's been a mixed bag of emotions. I'm still reminiscing on the memories of our unforgettable trip to Culebra last month — the sun, the sea, the makeup-free days. It's amazing how a little sun and saltwater can do so much for the soul.

February 2024 - Heartwarming moment of Treasure

Overall, I've been feeling more relaxed lately, spending quality time with the people who mean the world to me. Gratitude has been my guiding me on my daily life.

On the flip side, the PMS struggle was real this month. Does anyone else find themselves easily triggered and unable to control their emotions? My period arrived a day earlier than expected, bringing in a tsunami of cramps and mood swings that had me glued to my bed.

To top it off, a stubborn migraine decided to come in and stay for a couple of days, disrupting my sleep and leaving me feeling less energetic than usual. But despite it all, I managed to drag myself out of bed this morning for a much-needed yoga session. Sometimes, even small victories like that can make all the difference.

Accomplishments

As for accomplishments, while they may not be super big, I'm genuinely thrilled to see everlastying continuing to grow. Your unwavering support means the world to me, and as my friend Jeddy wisely pointed out, celebrating the small victories is just as important as acknowledging the big ones. So here's to all of us, cherishing each step of this journey together. Thank you for being a part of it.

February 2024 - Mesmerizing view of Brooklyn skies

While I may not have checked off every item on my to-do list, there are a few wins I'm really proud of. First off, I conquered the dreaded task of doing my taxes! And then there's the excitement of planning Gabriel's birthday upstate New York — can't wait to share all the juicy details with you soon!

On a personal level, I've been on a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance, and I'm thrilled to report that my anxiety levels have taken a dip. It's a slow but steady process, and every step forward feels like a victory.

Oh, and let's not forget about losing five pounds! It may not sound like much, but it's such a big sign of progress and of the hard work I've been putting in at the gym and at-home pilates!

Did I Have Fun?

Yes, I did! While it wasn't every single weekend, I made sure to carve out time for some well-deserved rest and quality moments with friends.

February 2024 - Melinda and Brian explore Harry Potter store, posing in red phone booth

Hung out with my friend, Justin — we had some delicious pho in Brooklyn and walked around Williamsburg, just roaming around. Also, my first-ever comedy show experience at Comedy Central was amazing! Sharing laughs with our friends, Maddi and Diego, made that night an amazing double date experience.

Brian and I celebrated Chinese New Year by feasting on some dim sum and taking a magical stroll through the Harry Potter store in Manhattan. I was so tempted to buy everything that I saw — especially the cool wands — but I managed to restrain myself from distinguishing between my needs and wants.

Had authentic Thai food with Gabriel and Brian in Queens, which was about 15 minutes from Brian’s place — and it was so damn good. We ended up watching The Foundation on Apple TV at Brian’s place and played Egyptian War and Crazy 8’s (if you guys know these card games, you know that it’s such an intense game!!) Later, Gabriel left to hang out with his guy friends and had a bro night while Brian came with me back to Brooklyn and we cooked dinner at my place. Later on, we had a nice heart-to-heart with our friend Jeddy over FaceTime and played the game Love Lingual (which is a card game and you can pick between 4-5 categories on what you want to talk about).

I'm looking forward to wrapping up the month with a movie night watching Dune 2 with Gabriel and Brian — a perfect finale to end the month!

New Skills

February 2024 - Delicious spread of dim sum dishes ordered with Brian

Learning to be more efficient in my work has been a significant skill I've honed.

The idea of working smarter, not harder, has not only enhanced my productivity but also reduced unnecessary stress. This mindset applies to all aspects of life, whether it's cooking, managing my schedule, or tackling day-to-day projects.

Biggest Regret

February 2024 - Enjoying authentic Thai cuisine with Gabriel and Brian in Queens, NYC

My biggest regret this month was my struggle to manage my temper when PMSing. As my cycle approached, I found myself easily irritable and quick to lose my temper. It's frustrating to feel so out of control, and I recognize the need to find healthier ways to cope with these emotions.

I'm determined to work on techniques like deep breathing and mindfulness to better manage my mood swings in the future. 😮‍💨

Challenges

February 2024 - Savoring delicious pho with Justin in Brooklyn

This month, I was challenged by my impatience and temper, as well as my struggle to complete my daily tasks. I realized the need to work on managing my emotions and approaching tasks with more patience and focus.

I think reading a book on how to control my temper and learning to tackle tasks one step at a time to improve my productivity and well-being. It's a work in progress, but I'm committed to finding strategies that work for me!

Self Care Practices

February 2024 - Treasure lounging on the sofa, snuggled up in a blanket

Practicing self-care has been an ongoing journey for me this month. I've made it a priority to dedicate Saturdays to simply doing nothing and fully embracing relaxation. I focus on being present in the moment, letting go of work and any other distractions, and just enjoying some downtime.

Additionally, I've been exploring what self-care means to me. Incorporating daily yoga sessions and regular workouts into my routine has been a significant part of this journey. Taking the time to stretch and care for my body not only feels good physically but also contributes to my overall well-being, making it an essential aspect of my self-care practice.
