Ever wished you could zip through Taiwan like a local? Meet GoShare, the electric scooter-sharing service that makes exploring Taiwanโ€™s cities fast, fun, and eco-friendly. It reminded me of my experience with a similar service in New York City called Revel, which is an electric moped service, but even better! โ€” thanks to battery swapping that keeps you riding nonstop.

Available in Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Yunlin County, GoShare is the perfect way to get around without dealing with traffic or crowded public transport.

Iโ€™ve only used it once so far, but Iโ€™ll update this post with more tips as I ride!

about GoShare

GoShare is Taiwanโ€™s electric scooter-sharing service, allowing you to rent a Gogoro scooter 24/7 through an easy-to-use app. Whether youโ€™re commuting or exploring, GoShare lets you zip around without the hassle of owning a scooter.

Who created GoShare?

GoShare was launched by Gogoro, a Taiwanese company known for revolutionizing electric scooters with battery-swapping technology. Instead of waiting for a scooter to charge, riders can swap out depleted batteries in seconds at thousands of GoStations all across Taiwan โ€” making it one of the most efficient and eco-friendly ways to travel.

The app helps you find the nearest GoStation, so youโ€™ll never have to worry about running out of power mid-ride. Just swap and go!

battery swapping

Unlike electric scooters in the U.S. that require overnight charging, GoShare runs on Gogoroโ€™s battery-swapping network โ€” so youโ€™ll never run out of power.

๐Ÿ”‹ If youโ€™re running on low battery, you can simply:

  1. Check the GoShare app for the nearest GoStation. This is the station for all the batteries that are charging and recharging

  2. Swap your battery in seconds โ€” no waiting! Lift your seat up to swap out your old batteries with a new, fully charged battery at the GoStation

  3. Keep riding!

๐ŸŒฑ Taiwanโ€™s Push for Green Transportation

GoShare is part of Taiwanโ€™s push for clean energy. By using these scooters, youโ€™re helping reduce air pollution while experiencing the island like a local.

returning the scooter

When youโ€™re done using your Gogoro scooter, returning it is also pretty simple.

โœ… Make sure to park legally. You can always check the GoShare app to see the approved vicinity in which to park.

โœ… Take your belongings. Donโ€™t forget your phone, return the helmet inside the seat, bring your hair net with you, dispose of it properly, and check to make sure you took everything!

โœ… End your ride in the app to stop charges.

โš ๏ธ Parking fines apply if you park illegally! Make sure to stick to designated zones and moped parking spots to avoid extra fees.

After youโ€™re all done, make sure to end the ride by tapping in the app, โ€œEnd Rideโ€!
