【大安森林公園】Daan Forest Park in Taipei, Taiwan
Located in Taipei, Taiwan, lies this expansive Daan Forest Park — a beautifully green oasis with tons of different activities to do within. Gabriel and I decided to stop by and visit Daan Forest Park after exploring Taipei 101 — we fell in love with how amazing this park was.
In this blog post, I’ll be covering on why this park is a must-visit destination in Taipei. Whether you’re a local looking for a place to unwind, or a traveler wanting to escape the city for a brief moment, I’ll be guiding you through the basics of Daan Forest Park!

brief history
Located in Taipei’s Daan District lies this big Daan Forest Park spanning about 200 acres.
In 1932, when Japan colonized Taiwan, the area that is now Daan Forest Park was chosen to be a park.
It finally opened in 1994 after a long process of clearing illegal buildings.
The Daan Forest Park is somewhat similar to New York’s Central Park for locals to take a break from the busy city life.

things to do
Lose yourself in the calm Daan Forest Park as you walk along its paths, surrounded by the beautiful green nature and different sounds of birds singing.
Take time to relax, sit on benches, and immerse yourself in nature.
Birdwatching
If you love birds, you must come here to watch some unique birds!
Grab your binoculars and watch all these different birds fly, walk, or swim in the pond.
How many different birds can you spot?
Chase fireflies
When the sun sets, be on the lookout for some fireflies dancing around and illuminating the sky!
Unfortunately when Gabriel and I visited in October and during the afternoon, there weren’t any fireflies out. But, I hope you get the chance to see some fireflies!
Visit the pond
My favorite way to unwind after a hectic day is be close to water.
Walk around the pond in Daan Forest Park and watch turtles swimming around, ducks gliding around the surface, and egrets walking.
