Located in Taipei, Taiwan, lies this expansive Daan Forest Park — a beautifully green oasis with tons of different activities to do within. Gabriel and I decided to stop by and visit Daan Forest Park after exploring Taipei 101 — we fell in love with how amazing this park was.

brief history

Located in Taipei’s Daan District lies this big Daan Forest Park spanning about 200 acres.
In 1932, when Japan colonized Taiwan, the area that is now Daan Forest Park was chosen to be a park.
It finally opened in 1994 after a *long* process of clearing illegal buildings.
The Daan Forest Park is *somewhat* similar to New York’s Central Park for locals to take a break from the busy city life.

getting there

Daan Forest Park MRT Station — **MRT**
Take the RED LINE and exit on the Daan Park Station (大安森林公園)
**YouBike**
There are quite a few YouBike stations surrounding the park. Just note that biking is not permitted *inside* the park
You can also access Daan Forest Park by walking or taking a yellow cab.

Lose yourself in the calm Daan Forest Park as you walk along its paths, surrounded by the beautiful green nature and different sounds of birds singing.

Take time to relax, sit on benches, and immerse yourself in nature.

Daan Forest Park - Discover Unique Bird Species — Birdwatching

If you love birds, you *must* come here to watch some unique birds!
Grab your binoculars and watch all these different birds fly, walk, or swim in the pond.
**How many different birds can you spot?**

Daan Forest Park Fireflies Viewing Path — Chase fireflies

When the sun sets, be on the lookout for some fireflies dancing around and illuminating the sky!
Unfortunately when Gabriel and I visited in October and during the afternoon, there weren’t any fireflies out. But, I hope *you* get the chance to see some fireflies!

Daan Forest Park - Tranquil Pond Scenery — Visit the pond

My favorite way to unwind after a hectic day is be close to water.
Walk around the pond in Daan Forest Park and watch turtles swimming around, ducks gliding around the surface, and egrets walking.
