【田寮農莊】Tian Liao Farm House in Taichung, Taiwan
Located in the middle of the serene rice plantations of Taichung, Tian Liao Farm House became an unexpected gem during a spontaneous October outing with Gabriel and my friends, Nicole and Greg.
Our journey to this hidden gem began with an Uber ride to what seemed like the middle of nowhere and away from the city of Taichung.
When we arrived at our destination, we were surrounded by beautiful rice plantations, which made this dining experience beyond the ordinary.
We were super lucky to even be able to get a spot without a reservation because when we arrived, it was at 11:57 AM on a Sunday. And, just after 10 minutes of sitting down, the restaurant was packed with people.

the atmosphere
As we walked through the front entrance of Tian Liao Farm House, it felt more like a cozy farmhouse than just a regular dining spot. There was vintage farm machinery strategically placed along the walkway at the entrance leading to the dining area, blending rustic nostalgia with modern culinary flair.
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Advanced reservations are required for indoor seating.
Since we hadn't made any reservations and walked in, we were seated at outdoor tables, which actually enhanced our dining experience even though it was so hot.
The open-air setting not only provided a view of the lotus pond with fishies swimming in it, but it also allowed us to appreciate the surrounding nature and the rural atmosphere of Tian Liao Farm House.

Try to sit outdoors to experience the rural setting and admire the view of the lotus pond. It’s absolutely serene.

The menu has a lot of meat-based options, but it also includes a few choices for vegetarians and vegans.
We couldn't stop eating because the food was absolutely delicious.
Our dining experience was amazing.
From savory dishes to semi-sweet treats, every bite showcased the chef's skill.
I wish I had written down what we ordered, which I usually do, but I took close-up pictures of the dishes that stood out to me!
