This cozy property on the small island of Culebra felt more like an intimate tropical cottage experience than a traditional hotel stay. With breathtaking ocean views from the terrace, every moment we spent at the cottage was a fantastic retreat, allowing us to unwind and appreciate the natural beauty surrounding us.

Aleli Cottages offers a perfect escape away from crowded tourist spots. Perched on a hilltop, the cottages provide stunning panoramic views of the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea, creating a perfect atmosphere for relaxation and tranquility.
Accessing Aleli Cottages requires a bit of planning, as the cottages are not easily accessible by foot.
When arriving in Culebra, whether by ferry from Fajardo or flights from San Juan, my best advice is to rent a vehicle to reach the cottages.
While some visitors rent golf carts, navigating the steep hills and rugged terrain is often more comfortable in a sturdy Jeep. We chose Carlos Jeep Rentals to rent a Jeep, which allowed us to access locations that are harder to reach, such as Playa Resaca.
When you start heading to Aleli Cottages with your rented cart or Jeep, take your time to enjoy the scenic drive, but be mindful of the challenging road conditions.
Make sure to look out for potholes and drive cautiously for a safe and enjoyable experience.

At Aleli Cottages, you have a variety of options to choose from, each offering a unique experience tailored to your preferences. During our stay, my partner booked the Pitires cottage, which is the first cottage ever built at Aleli Cottages.
This cottage is perfect for couples looking for a getaway, accommodating up to two people. It features a queen-size bed, air conditioning, a full kitchen with supplies, and a private bathroom. What makes this cottage even more special is its roofless shower, the only one of its kind at Aleli Cottages. Additionally, they provide basic bath amenities such as towels and toiletries, as well as outdoor gear like beach chairs and towels for your beach adventures!
When we first arrived, we found the cottage tucked away among the lush greenery on the left side of the hill. It took us a moment to locate it since it was positioned downhill, but we loved the secluded setting that offered a wonderful sense of privacy and serenity.
For those looking for a refreshing escape from the Caribbean sun, the cottage is equipped with air conditioning and fans to ensure a pleasant indoor climate. However, we did encounter a minor inconvenience with mosquitoes due to small holes in the window screens, so it’s a good idea to bring mosquito spray and apply it regularly!

My favorite part of our cottage experience was the spacious terrace, complete with a hammock that invited us to unwind and take in the breathtaking views.
Whether we decided to lay in the hammock or enjoy a quick meal in the outdoor seating area, the terrace offers the perfect vantage point for witnessing stunning sunsets and sunrises over the horizon.
Although Aleli Cottages has a no-pets policy, we were greeted each morning by a friendly wild peacock who visited us around 8:30 to 8:40 to say good morning. 🦚
We also had a natural alarm clock in the form of wild chickens clucking around the island, reminding us to wake up and watch the sunrise. 🐓🐓🐓🐥
🛜 TIP
While Wi-Fi is available at Aleli Cottages, I do recommend you have a reliable internet connection, as the signal strength may vary. I ended up just using my hotspot and internet because I couldn’t connect to the wifi unless we were standing in the kitchen.

Although Aleli Cottages may not boast extravagant amenities like swimming pools or dining options, its simplicity adds to its appeal.
The property features a communal kitchen area, which we didn't use because we chose to explore local dining options during our stay.
There is free on-site parking available for guests.
We parked our Jeep right in front of our cottage entrance, eliminating concerns about finding a parking spot.
What sets Aleli Cottages apart from other spots is its commitment to eco-friendliness and sustainability.
The cottages are built using natural materials, allowing them to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment. This dedication to preserving the natural beauty of Culebra is commendable and aligns with our values as mindful travelers.
