As my last stop before departing Taiwan, my best friend Sunny and I dined at MiraWan, a Michelin-starred French restaurant located on the 47th floor of the beautifully architectured Breeze (微風) Nan Shan building in Taipei. We wanted our last night to be memorable and spend a beautiful time talking about our experiences together before saying our goodbyes, as I flew back home to New York the next day.

about MIRAWAN

MiraWan, short for “Miracles of Taiwan,” uses local ingredients from Taiwan to create beautiful French dishes, implementing both traditional and innovative concepts. The head chef, Josh Cheng, aims to create original French cuisine using nature and unique Taiwanese local ingredients, creating unforgettable experiences for diners.

the LOCATION

Located at Breeze (微風), a beautifully architectured mall that is semi-recently developed and has high end designer brands and exquisite fine dining cuisines available within, MiraWan is just right across the famous Taipei 101. As I got off the Taipei MRT, I could see the beautifully lit infamous Taipei 101 and all the tourist attractions when I walked over to Breeze (微風) to enter the restaurant. MiraWan is located on the 47th floor of Breeze, and there’s a personal elevator to go up to the restaurants. When I was trying to find that elevator, it was a bit of a puzzle as I circled through the designer shops that was in Breeze (微風). But thankfully I found it 🥲

the DESIGN

Upon exiting the elevator and entering the restaurant, the display on the exterior was immaculate and just draws you to the restaurant within. The lights danced around with different pastel colors throughout the restaurant, and the conceptually carved pyramids glimmered with the pastel colors radiating throughout the ceiling like it was flying like white birds gliding across. It was absolutely breathtaking.

A server saw me standing there admiring the interior design and greeted me. I told her I had a reservation at 7:15 PM, and she immediately led me to our dinner table by the beautiful floor to ceiling window to view the city lights of Taipei on the 47th floor. Everything was impeccable, from the white marble tables to the seats to sit and view the city right next to each table, and it was intelligently designed, making great use of space. The bar, the seating area, everything was immaculate and well thought out.

the FOOD

Before our reservation, some items on the menu needed to be pre-ordered, such as the Lobster Pasta and Boston Lobster and White Asparagus with Caviar (which we’ve ordered). At the dinner table, we ordered French Fries as appetizers because we both love fries and why not? Each dish that was served came beautifully displayed like art pieces. The taste was magnificent and just melts right into your mouth, you immediately just want to devour the whole dish. Paired with the beautiful views of the city night sky of Taipei, everything was perfect.

The only downside was that they didn't serve regular drinking water, only sparkling or still water that costed $150 TWD ($5 USD).

the OVERALL

Overall, this beautifully designed place makes you want to come back. They also have an afternoon tea special which I'm dying to go back for. Everything makes up for it: the views, the aesthetic, the service, and the quality of the food and dining experience. If you love food and views and are visiting Taipei, you have to try out MiraWan.
