about Maple Garden
The story of Maple Garden speaks volumes about Taichung's dedication to green spaces.
Originally planned as the site for an international expo center, the project was later moved to another location, leaving behind a large, 30,000-square-meter, 20-meter-deep excavation.
Instead of becoming an eyesore, Taichung saw an opportunity.
Visionary builders reimagined the space, turning the abandoned pit into a beautiful ecological park with minimal concrete usage. This innovative approach demonstrates the city's commitment to sustainability and creating green havens for its residents.
Maple Garden officially opened to the public in November 2012 and quickly became a beloved urban escape. Today, the park offers a peaceful contrast to the city's busy energy.
