Vietnam Packing List

Planning your trip to Vietnam? I gotchu.
This is the smart, unisex, and sustainable Vietnam packing list I personally used when visiting places like Saigon, Da Nang, and Con Dao in November — and it’ll keep growing as I explore more regions and seasons.
Whether you’re island-hopping in Con Dao or café-hopping in Saigon, this list is here to help you pack light, travel smarter, and actually enjoy your trip (without overpacking or forgetting your essentials).
what to pack for Vietnam in November
This packing list is unisex, so feel free to change it up.
👕 CLOTHING
Vietnam in November (especially in the south) is hot, humid, and sometimes rainy. Prioritize breathable fabrics like linen, rayon, cotton, and bamboo — your body will thank you.
☐ Undergarments (bras, boxers, underwear, socks, etc.)
☐ Lightweight breathable tops (tank tops, oversized tees, breezy blouses)
☐ Breathable dresses / rompers
☐ Linen pants or wide-leg trousers
☐ Shorts or skirts
☐ Light jacket, a cardigan, or a flannel — for cooler mornings or A/C
☐ Workout outfit — for gym, yoga sesh, or hiking
☐ Pajamas
☐ Swimsuit
👟 SHOES (just 2 pairs!)
Don’t overpack shoes; save space for other necessities. Wear your comfortable sneakers and pack the other shoes in your luggage. All you really need is:
☐ Comfy Sneakers for walking — you can just wear these to the airport!
☐ Sandals or flip flops
☐ Hiking shoes
👒 ACCESSORIES
☐ Umbrella or packable raincoat
☐ Reusable water bottle
☐ Hat / sunglasses
☐ Jewelery (earrings, necklaces, rings, etc)
☐ Belt (optional)
🧼 TOILETRIES (travel-sized, always!)
Focus on what you need for your toiletries and don’t overpack. Don’t bring your whole bathroom. You can also buy most things in Vietnam if needed. But pack these essentials:
☐ Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss — keep this in your personal bag if you’re on a long-haul flight so you can brush your teeth before you sleep or wake up
☐ Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash
☐ Face moisturizer + reef-safe sunscreen
☐ Deodorant
☐ Hair products (anti-frizz, hair oils, hair styling cream, etc.)
☐ Mosquito repellent — you can also buy this in Vietnam as well
☐ Tweezers, nail clipper, nail filer
☐ Contact lenses or glasses
💊 MEDS
☐ Painkillers — if you get migraines easily like me, definitely pack a travel-sized bottle for your trip
☐ Prescription meds
📱 TECH
☐ Universal adapter — Vietnam uses Type A, C, F, and G plugs
☐ eSIM from Airalo — fast, reliable internet right after you land in Vietnam
☐ Power bank — make sure to keep this in your carry-on!
☐ Optional: GoPro, drone (permit needed!, camera gear, laptop, tablet, etc.
☐ Headphones
🧾 TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Don’t leave home without these — seriously! And make sure they’re in your personal bag so you can instantly grab them and they’re always by your side.
☐ Vietnam Visa — very important! Must have this prepped before your trip and printed before you head to Vietnam
☐ Passport copies — bring physical copies and photocopies in your phone and keep this with you in your personal bag
☐ Travel insurance via Insubuy
☐ Wallet with some cash — while most places in Vietnam accept credit cards, if you plan to visit smaller islands like Con Dao or want to buy a coconut at a bus stop, you will definitely need cash.
🚫 what NOT to pack
☐ Revealing clothing for temples
☐ Drugs or sharp weapons (super illegal!)
☐ bulky items like HUGE dress — if you’re like me and you like to travel with JUST a carry-on a personal item, avoid packing a huge dress (like I did for some aesthetic pics in Vietnam lol). If you do, make sure to get a vacuum seal to save space!
☐ Full-sized toiletries — that’s just a no bueno
☐ Too many shoes — save space so you can shop in Vietnam!
